Do you like history and are you passionate about writing? If yes, then this is a good opportunity to present your skills just now. The History Writing competition promoted by BBC History Magazine gives you the chance to write your answer to a clear question: ¨Where in the world do you feel most connected to the past?¨

Write about your favourite historical place; it doesn´t matter if it is a church, a castle or a city. The important thing is to inspire the judges to visit your favourite place.

Your article, of about 400 words or less, should explain why your chosen place (and it can be anywhere in the world) is so special. Be original while writing, try to write with quality and be careful about historical accuracy.

The prize is excellent. Your article will be published in the December 2015 issue of BBC History Magazine and at HistoryExtra.com. The prize also includes golden tickets to BBC History Magazine’s History Weekend in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, including accommodation and much more.

Closing date for entries is 1 September 2015. So don´t waste a moment − start writing now! Maybe You are a winner − and it will be really worthwhile.

We wish you the best of luck!
